This is a Full-time position.
The Special Events position directs and coordinates all fundraising events and campaigns in his/her assigned region/market. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Special Events, the Special Events Director serves as a key member of the community-based development team and supervises seasonal hires and interns in the special events office. The Director also acts as liaison and key contact to all volunteer fundraising committees, including members of the local Development Advisory Committee. The ideal candidate will be creative and entrepreneurial, with the ability to both set and execute strategy. S/he will have exemplary relationship building skills, the ability to listen and create a tailored pitch and be excited by the responsibility of playing a critical role in securing funding to fuel the revenue growth goals for the organization.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college/university required; Minimum 3 years of event management experience with a proven track record of executing fundraising events; Excellent written and verbal communication skills and superior attention to detail; Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple priorities to meet deadlines; Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Work, Excel and PowerPoint; Raiser’s Edge and Convio experience a plus; Ability to participate in evening/weekend events
Plan and manage fundraising event portfolio, coordinate and oversee logistics, budget and financial records; Manage, train and provide leadership to volunteer committees to ensure that committee members are fully supported in order to drive revenue growth for special events; Working with the Sr. Director of Development, organize and manage the identification, cultivation and solicitation of event chairs, committee and honorees; Conceptualize and prepare event sponsorship proposals; solicit corporate sponsorships; Oversee day-of revenue streams (auctions, day-of walk registrations, etc); Supervise any Development Managers, interns or seasonal hires as needed; Work closely with Marketing/Communications to use traditional and social media to promote events as well as comply with the organization's brand standards; Other development projects/events as assigned.
