Special Projects Producer position

The Division of Multimedia Properties is seeking for a full-time Special Projects Producer who is a creative self-starter. This public relations mind is a talented content creator, who as a part of the Special Projects team of the Media Services Group, comes each day with unique ways to message the University of Florida or other assigned clients. Familiar with the look, feel and process of ‘big broadcast’ this Special Projects Producer understands how media organizations use content and creates assets that are sure to be used. This position leads the charge in writing, interviewing, shooting & final editing professional messages.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications: At least 2 years in Broadcast News or Video Public Relations as a writer, producer or reporter (or similar). Full working knowledge of FCPX or Adobe Premiere editing systems. Long & short content writing skills, these include but not limited to commercial & underwriting mentions, news specific writing structures (News Package, Vo, Vo/sots) and long form shows.

Responsibilities: As a part of the Media Services team the Special Projects Producer guides content from idea to final product. These duties include:

Inspire: Uses keen awareness for the University of Florida or assigned client goals to pitch content ideas for production. These proposals include target audience, medium of transmission (ex. Video / web) and execution (talent, interviews, video).

Build: Researches assigned projects. Cultivates positive relationships with clients (often campus researchers, officials and staff). Sources interviews, talent and locations for shoots. Communicates progress while working quickly to overcome challenges.

Execute: Drives content daily from idea to completed project. Uses video & still cameras to gather content from the field (primarily individually but also as a part of a team), writes copy and final-edits the professional project to meet deadline.

Mobilize: Assembles and distributes completed & approved content to partners. Follows up to insure delivery and sources feedback to improve utilization & reach. Champions UF stories to state and national media through phone calls, e-mail & social media.

Assist: In recognition of this position as a member of a larger team, assists in other duties as assigned.
