This position is located at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) in Georgetown, KY. TMMK is part of Toyota's North American operation. Established in 1986, TMMK is Toyota's largest manufacturing facility outside of Japan. The 1300 acre facility produces 500,000 vehicles annually. Production includes the Avalon, Camry, Camry Hybrid and the Venza. In addition, TMMK builds 4-cylinder and V6 engines and powertrain parts. Over 6000 Team Members work in the Georgetown location.

We are currently seeking a


for our

Quality Engineering

area . Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:

Manage Operation / Function:
To assure TMMK completed vehicle and supplied parts quality

Quality Standard and inspection plan development and execution by manufacturing and suppliers

Monitor all Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and identify and resolve issues using Toyota problem solving methods

New model vehicle development with design & manufacturing

Deployment of the Quality business plan strategy and objectives

Continued development of the TMMK Quality System through procedure development and computer based tools

Resolve quality problems across departments and within Toyota affiliates

Lead/manage team members:
Coordinate activities with other departments and external organizations to accomplish objectives

Manage projects:
Develop and execute Quality System, business process and information technology improvements at the plant and regional level including development of business standards and subsequent audit of manufacturing and quality functions

Manage processes to execute the Quality Engineering Inspection Control function:

Set inspection standards/requirements and manage daily issues, customer issues and solve problems

Assure completed vehicle, supplied parts and in-house quality through KPI monitoring and leading problem registration systems

Manage change points including Engineering Change and Supplier Process Change Management

Periodic reporting to management

Resolve problems:
Lead/manage/report problem solving for design, manufacturing or supplied parts

Lead/manage/report problem solving for inspection processes and equipment

Coordinate cross-functional problem solving team activities

Develop business plans and strategies:
Execute Quality Engineering section activities supporting annual business planning for Quality Control department

Deploy vehicle quality system improvement activities for chronic and and customer satisfaction issues

Deploy manufacturing audit strategies

Execute major and minor model operational plans

Ability to travel ~15% normally and does include international travel

Ability to work overtime based on project need

Occasional requirement for unscheduled work to maintain quality and support production during production interruption based on project need

Occasional requirement for scheduled work during TMMK shutdown period for retooling or equipment installation projects based on project need


Bachelor degree in Engineering (ME, EE) or Bachelors in a technical related discipline.

Possess basic understanding of one or more vehicle functional areas (e.g. Body, Interior, Chassis, Electrical, Engine, etc)

Possess basic understanding of one or more multiple mfg. processes utilized by Toyota and suppliers.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)

Quality experience or other manufacturing experience

Advanced Engineering or Technical degree (Master or doctorate)

Quality Auditor Certification (Process Systems)

Understanding of Quality systems (example: ISO)

Quality engineer certifications or engineering experience (including Supplier Quality Management)

Knowledge of, or experience in Materials Quality (Steel, Resin, Paint, Etc)

Knowledge of, or experience in Field / Warranty systems

Knowledge of, and experience in, inspection process development and equipment implementation for quality inspection

Supervisory experience

Experience in project management in a lead role (prioritize work, meet milestones, and report out status of project)

Knowledge of information mainframe systems

Toyota Experience / Participation in JKK and / or Jishuken activities

Quality Control Experience

Toyota Business Practice (TBP) completion or Six Sigma certification
