Established in April 2006, TEMA strengthens Toyota's North American customer focus, through improved supplier cooperation, overall speed, flexibility and attention to quality. TEMA headquarters in Erlanger, KY, house the Toyota Operations Center and the Toyota Planning Center. The main offices for the Toyota Technical Center are in Ann Arbor, MI.

The role of the

Regional Team Member Relations Specialist

is to provide regional support through projects, issue identification, countermeasure development and implementation of countermeasures that reinforce a foundation of mutual trust and respect between the team members and the company. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Assist in development of systems/tools to monitor and track conditions across North America, specifically related to Team Member Relations roles.

Lead regional projects across North America (strategy development, benchmarking, identification of best practices, nemewashi, consensus building, implementation, reflection and kaizen)

Develop KPIs/reporting tools to provide information updates/presentations to TEMA HR senior management and TMC on strategic projects and TMR conditions across North America

Develop key strategies to manage and minimize TMR risks North American wide based on the Toyota Way and TPS philosophies


Bachelors degree

3+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment

Previous labor relations experience

Human Resource experience supporting activities to include positive employee relations, developing strategies and proposals, fostering culture of mutual trust and respect, accepting of differences and positive communications

Verbal and written communication skills with presentation development and delivery experience to various levels of management and executives

Knowledge of laws and regulations governing labor relations, employee treatment (EEOC, FMLA, etc), wages and hours

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and build consensus with multiple stakeholders

Project management experience with capability to initiate, lead, manage and report out status of projects

Ability to travel up to 30%

Ability to work 5-10 hours of OT per week.

Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations or Industrial Relations

PHR or SHRM certification

Experience developing and implementing consistent application of HR polices

Labor relations experience (industry research, translation and application/implementation into daily use)

TBP completion (passed) or similar problem solving certification (i.e; six sigma)
