Specialist I/II, Development Research

The individual in this position will research, identify, screen and recommend prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors for Development staff to support the fund raising goals for the University. This position provides research-based counsel and analysis to development officers regarding cultivation and solicitation strategy, meets with assigned development officers regularly to review prospects and projects and/or to provide detailed briefings on prospects, collaborates with development officers on proactive prospect identification and qualification and makes recommendations concerning prospect opportunities, and analyzes and assesses data requirements and resources.
Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. Knowledge of performing research and analysis of data is required. Demonstrated skill in utilizing multiple electronic resources such as Lexis/Nexis; proficiency in information management and strong knowledge of MS Word and Excel; excellent critical-thinking, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills; exceptional and succinct writing/reporting skills; attentive to detail; flexibility to respond to shifting priorities and to meet established deadlines; ability to work well in a team environment.
