Positions Summary:
The Specimen Processor at the Upper Valley Medical Center works under the direction of the Sandridge Processing Team Leader. Duties include but are not limited to data entry, specimen preparation for transport, maintaining transport supplies and record keeping and retrieval.

Positions Summary:
The Specimen Processor at the Upper Valley Medical Center works under the direction of the Sandridge Processing Team Leader. Duties include but are not limited to data entry, specimen preparation for transport, maintaining transport supplies and record keeping and retrieval.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
1.Perform all duties and responsibilities in a courteous and efficient manner, demonstrating positive customer service principles to clients at all times.
2.Understand and utilize the electronic medical record system of the hospital within the realm of job necessity. Assure that at all times Compliance regulations are met.
3.Prepare transport list for specimens to be sent to Compunet Clinical Laboratories.
4.Verify that correct specimen has been drawn for test requested.
5.Prepare specimens for testing via centri-fugation, separation and distribution.
6.Verify patient identification, separate and label transport tubes as required.
7.Place prepared samples in the correct transport box according to temperature requirement.
8.Enter any miscellaneous testing and/or complete manual requisition.
9.Prepare shipments for Quest Diagnostics in accordance with shipping standards.
10.Assure transport supplies are stocked and in date.
11.Keep supervisor and/or sales representative(s) informed of problems or concerns.
12.Timely completion and maintenance of CCL compliance and safety training.
13.Completion of any safety and/or orientation requirements of Upper Valley Medical Center.
14.Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
15.Comply with all departmental, company and regulatory policies and procedures.
16.All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
2.Previous medical terminology experience preferred.
3.Must successfully complete data entry assessment.
4.Strong attention to detail.
5.Basic computer skills required.
