Sony Picture Entertainment’s (SPE) Spectrum Internship Program is a competitive internship program that provides eligible interns with exposure to the operations of a major entertainment studio. During the internship, interns will gain insight into the inner workings of the business and industry dynamics. In addition, interns will work on project-based assignments for the sponsoring department and participate in development events that will enhance their overall internship experience. We are seeking undergraduate, graduate, and JD students interested in an internship in this exciting centralized program.
      The Digital Distribution group manages the commercial relationship with all of SPE's digital distribution partners. This includes iTunes, Xbox, PSN, Vudu, inDemand, Amazon, DirecTV, Best Buy/Cinema Now and YouTube. The team works closely with the counterparts in each account to ensure prime placement and promotion to maximize the sale and rental of SPE content (movies and TV shows) on various digital platforms. We use the levers of price, windows, format, and product features (e.g., extras) to drive digital consumption on our partners' platforms. 4 account managers manage the day-to-day relationship with their respective accounts while the VP works on new initiatives that span all the accounts.
      Interns will have exposure to the following projects:

      Project Digital Big Data: We store hundreds of thousands of lines of data from our accounts where we can derive insights on digital consumer behavior. The intern will be expected to analyze the data set to determine consumer segmentation based on geography, HD/SD inclination, rental or sell-through orientation, TV-EST vs. features usage. The insights derived will inform our go-to-market strategy to drive incremental transactions.

      Project Social Media: Using social media to drive consumers to a transaction is a key priority for our digital accounts. The summer intern will be expected to work with the digital account managers and marketing teams to develop executable social media initiatives that can be pitched to key digital accounts.

      Project Product Lifecycle: The summer intern will help develop processes on how to manage the lifecycle of our features EST product. From pre-o rder, to early-est, new release, recent release and catalog. This will require an in-depth analysis of EST and VOD at various price points.

      Project Physical/Digital: As physical and digital distribution continues to integrate, the intern will work closely with the account manager for physical/digital hybrid accounts to outline the menu of physical/digital offers that can be executed with retailers. The intern will be expected to deliver a clear rationale for each hybrid offer and the pros/cons of each. This will serve as a guide book to the future of integration physical and digital businesses.

      The intern will learn the following:

      Knowledge: The intern will learn the intimate details of transactional digital distribution of movies and TV shows. He/she will learn about the nuances of working with the most important digital platforms (iTunes, Xbox, inDemand) and how to manage the different levers to ensure prime real estate on each service. The intern will also be at the forefront of the integration of physical/digital distribution of entertainment particularly as Ultra Violet continues its growth and adoption by consumers.

      Skills: The intern will work closely with the VP to build the skill of extracting key actionable insights from qualitative and quantitative analysis. In addition, the intern will learn the importance of selling in ideas both internally and externally to ensure proper support.

      Experiences: The intern will be at the forefront of a rapidly emerging channel of distribution and will directly help shape the direction of the business.

      Basic Qualifications:
      • The Spectrum Internship Program's Summer session is a full-time, 40 hour/ week commitment lasting for an 8 week period from late June through mid August. All applicants must be in good academic standing and available for the entire 8 week session.

      Desired Skills:
        The Digital Distribution group is extremely fast-paced with multiple concurrent initiatives and projects. An intern will thrive in this

        environment if they have the following background

        1) Significant experience in quantitative analysis including building market forecast models, building P&Ls evaluating new business

        ideas/initiatives, and analyzing large data sets to identify actionable insights 2) Background and experience in creating executive-level

        presentations 3) Interest in digital entertainment marketing/merchandising

        Background: 1) MBA candidate 2) Consulting background 3) Basic understanding of content distribution
