Speech Language Pathologist

Looking for both a full-time SLP and a part-time SLP to cover up to 20 hours per month for SLP to meet k-12 IEP requirements.

Population: Children with autism

Timing: ASAP

Working Conditions: classroom setting with teachers and students

Working Hours: Full-time is M-F from 8:30am-3pm (For part-time role it can be any day or two during the week)

Job Title: Speech/Language Therapist

Salary Range: Negotiable

General Summary:
Responsible for providing consultation regarding speech/language programming for all Center-Based students in the areas of oral motor, speech and articulation, use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), receptive language, expressive language, and pragmatics. Consultation must include the use of evidence-based behavioral methodology to support student learning (e.g., principles of reinforcement, prompting, modeling, shaping). Provide initial and ongoing trainings on speech and language programming for all Center-Based staff and Outreach staff as necessary.

Position Reports to Center Director

Requirements:
o Minimum 5 Years of Experience as an SLP

o Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Autistic Kids

o Experience with ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and children with Autism

Essential Qualifications:
o Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology

o Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)

o Demonstrates advanced understanding of behavioral principles and instructional strategies for students with autism and other behavior disorders

o Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)

o Experience working with a multidisciplinary team

o Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills

o Demonstrates superior ability in supervising program staff

o Experience across a variety of age ranges and abilities

Desired Qualifications:
o BCBA certification or enrollment in BCBA certification program

o School-based experience and early childhood experience

o Familiar with sign language

o Trained in Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT)

o Knowledge of literacy intervention for students with moderate to severe disabilities

o Familiar with Boardmaker software

o Familiar with Writing with Symbols software

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The speech-language pathologist/behavior specialist in the Center-Based Program consults with teachers and instructors on behavior modification and speech and language programming for individual students, classrooms, and for the entire Center-Based Program. This consultation is provided through:

o Weekly meetings with teachers

o Periodic observations of individual students

o Skill probes with individual students

o Administration of assessments as needed for programming and Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) development

o Documentation of assessment results in writing

o Consultation on development of speech and language programming

o Staff trainings on specific speech and language programs

o Review of data on speech and language programs

o Development of IEP recommendations for all students

o Review of IEP speech and language current levels and goals for all students

o Provides initial and ongoing trainings for all staff in the areas of speech and language as well as behavior modification techniques and other trainings as assigned by supervisor or as deemed necessary by evaluation of educational instructors' skill levels

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
o Participates in all relevant meetings regarding students' speech and language and/or behavior programming

o Collaborates with Outreach Consultants on individual clients as needed in client homes

o Provides supervision to BCBA and BCaBA candidates as assigned by Center Director

o Weekly attendance of Outreach Clinical meetings for ongoing case consultation

o Participates in annual crisis management training as well as CPR and First Aid certification
