The Speech Pathologist functions as a member of the healthcare team. The purpose is to provide medically prescribed evaluation and therapy services in the hospital in accordance with national standards and administrative policies of the hospital. The goal is to restore and or retain function, to prevent or minimize disability following disease, injury, surgery or loss of a body part in order to allow the patient to perform to his/her maximum ability and to be safe in the least restrictive environment. The Speech Pathologist in this setting serves the populations of neonate/pre-term and term newborns; specific cases of adolescent patients between 16-18 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

      Education: Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a school required.

      Certifications: Current Missouri Speech Pathology licensure. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
      (CCC-SLP) from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) OR currently completing Clinical
      Fellowship Year (CFY) in the process to obtain the CCC-SLP.
