POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of the position include defining complex business requirements, identifying and implementing efficient procedures for the processing, storage, and retrieval of data regarding the NEA’s members, affiliates, and financial obligation in consultation with NEA and state affiliate staff and providing business process and application support to users. The incumbent ensures the integrity and confidentiality of member data and provides technical expertise in web-based membership system design, application interactions and business practices. The incumbent develops and delivers training in and user documentation for the membership and business intelligence systems, creates and delivers presentations to system users, association leaders and executives at association conferences. The incumbent works collaboratively with the NEA’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department by delineating system requirements to conform to NEA and state affiliate by-laws and policy and federal and state law. The incumbent consults with NEA staff and state affiliates to develop creative business intelligence solutions to record, process, and store membership data. The incumbent provides consultation and user support to NEA and affiliate staff regarding software applications and business standards and practice. The incumbent assists NEA and state affiliate staff in interpreting, using and improving the presentation of information. To carry out responsibilities, the incumbent uses a personal computer, associated software, and other office technology.

Required Skills TIER 1 (Essential): Demonstrated experience designing, building, implementing, maintaining, and supporting complex applications. Demonstrated experience defining requirements or user stories, designing, testing and delivering business systems. Expertise in the design, customization, documentation, training, and support of membership, accounting, business or financial applications. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent timeframes and changing priorities and conditions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and independently. Successful references. TIER 2 (Significant): Experience working on development of eCommerce Business to Consumer commercial transaction applications. Experience using software, such as, Cognos 8 or other Business Intelligence systems to develop applications. Familiarity with Agile software develop0ment principles and practice. TIER 3 (Desirable) Experience with professional national membership systems. Knowledge of NEA’s business environment, strategic priorities, programs and policies. Certification as a Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) is a plus.

Required Experience MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of at least a Bachelor’s degree and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be obtained. Additional specialized courses in Business Intelligence, Agile Software Development, Computer Applications Development or Information Systems or related disciplines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five years progressively responsible professional business systems analysis experience. Experience must include application systems development and implementation. Experience defining complex logic, testing, and verifying the validity of the information. Experience interviewing users and interpreting primary documents to determine business requirements. Defining and writing specifications, interfacing with technical staff in the design, development, testing and implementation of computer systems. Experience writing user and technical documentation. Experience developing and conducting end-user training and presentations. Samples of work product will be required at time of interview. Occasional travel required.
