PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Senior Business Analyst works independently in generating and analyzing various metrics and reports for TRP Operations in support of continual business performance improvement. The position works closely with the business and GBS&T, serving as the lead for moderate-to-complex requests to develop and support new reporting structures measuring profitability and effectiveness. This position builds and schedules ongoing reporting processes, creates complex ad hoc reports and presentations, and performs data analysis as needed in support of evolving business needs. This position proactively interacts with the business on a consultative basis to influence and create new reporting opportunities and evolve existing reporting solutions.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Business Analyst works independently in generating and analyzing various operational and sales metrics reports for TRP Operations in support of continual business performance improvement. The position works closely with the business and GBS&T, serving as the lead for moderate-to-complex requests to develop and support new reporting structures measuring profitability and effectiveness. Independently interacts regularly with business partners of varying associate/management levels to ensure clarity of the problem/opportunity and elicit business requirements. Determines and utilizes appropriate elicitation method based on stakeholders and desired outcome to elicit requirements and document information for use in analysis. Validates requirements elicited match the stakeholder’s understanding of the problem and stakeholder needs on moderate to high complexity projects.
Prepares complex or cross functional financial models and projections to support business decision making. Scope of projects may involve significant scope and complexity. The Senior Business Analyst will partner with the business to gather requirements and ensure solutions developed will meet the business needs. Analysis may involve several data sets or systems to accomplish goals. This position builds and schedules ongoing reporting processes, creates complex ad hoc reports and presentations, and performs data analysis as needed in support of evolving business needs.
This position proactively interacts with the business on a consultative basis to influence and create new reporting opportunities and evolve existing reporting solutions. Independently estimates development time on all project work and sets clear expectations with our business partners; Develops a requirements plan to identify activities, dependencies, deliverables and stakeholders to manage the requirements effort for medium to high complexity projects. Independently develops small-scale reporting solutions with little guidance from Management; Leverages knowledge of the business and available reporting applications to create reporting solutions which will meet current and future business needs. Interacts regularly with TRPO and Analysis Planning and Finance management to provide status updates on existing projects.
Uses advanced understanding of cost/benefit analysis for the purpose presenting recommendations to business partners. The Senior Business Analyst communicates concerns and influences the business to pursue alternate solutions when the cost outweighs the benefit of the end-product. Develops and evaluates alternative solutions on medium to high complexity work/projects leveraging existing data, reporting or tools. Presents evaluation of alternatives and recommendations to the business for the purpose of determining and agreeing upon the best solution. Independently analyzes data and information needs in order to recommend and implement solutions that minimize redundancy and maximize the compatibility of data within and across operating and functional environments. Acts as a subject matter expert for management on questions pertaining to the feasibility of developing new reporting opportunities. Influences the business as well as other analysts on the team to practice efficient and consistent methods
Coaches and acts as a mentor for other business analysts in the Business Data and Analytics team during group discussions and on an individual basis. This role uses team meetings as a forum to share best practices, reporting tips, and business challenges with the other analysts on the team. Encourages and influences others to actively participate in team meetings and to provide feedback and discussion around improving the Business Data and Analytics team’s internal processes and best practices. Consistently handles questions from other analysts and uses these individual interactions as an opportunity to provide coaching and mentoring on a one-on-one basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

College degree and 2 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 4 years related work experience, or
High School diploma/equivalent and 6 years related work experience
Advanced understanding of cost benefit analysis
Ability to translate complex business requirements into detailed functional or financial specifications
Demonstrated ability to develop alternative solutions to complex problems and recommend the best solution to the business
Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize time between managing multiple projects
Ability to work well in cross-functional teams, including business, technical and outsourced resources
Ability to train others
Ability to apply acquired knowledge from prior experience effectively in new situations (medium to high complexity)
Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem solving skills
Must be able to meet with clients of varying levels to gather, document, and analyze requirements
Ability to offer solutions and the business impact to clients in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work collaboratively with others in team environment
Possesses ability to use effective facilitation skills and techniques to elicit requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders and group size
Possesses effective influencing and negotiating skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of when and how to use business assessment tools (e.g., feasibility studies, business cases and/or cost/benefit, project sizing and costing, and current state analysis/needs assessments)
Process oriented, logical thinker
Knowledge of relational databases and concepts
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
Advanced MS Access skills
Advanced Excel skills
Attention to detail

Preferred

College degree and 3 years related work experience is preferred
SQL skills
Knowledge of asset management industry is preferred
Knowledge of LEADs system and Operations record keeping systems (DST, TRAC, Pershing, Banner, Omni Plus) preferred
Proficiency in Business Objects or similar reporting software is preferred
