As an IT professional you have expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Because of your excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle, you have the ability to direct project teams in the gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. You get to work closely with and learn from the brightest minds to ensure proper system design. Your role ensures highest quality implementations from design through quality insurance to production. You anticipate hardware and software design needs to take pre-emptive action. Our IT professionals support multiple team members and other project leads in day-to-day activities related to project work.

The Sr. Developer has proficient knowledge of multiple programming languages along with the ability to take business requirements and develop the total technical design for an entire application to be run in production. The Sr. Developer has the ability to lay out requirements for the project team. Ability to guide and direct work on multiple projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production. Thorough understanding of life cycle development through production implementation and post implementation. The Sr. Developer has the ability to present at the various architecture review boards. Display strategic view of applications and how they fit into the whole retail space.

The Senior Developer will be responsible for several aspects of the design and development of the integration processes for various subject areas that will be housed in the EDW. The individual will be involved in requirements gathering, design and development of moderate to complex applications. Should be highly experienced in data warehouse development methodology using specialized tools and toolsets as detailed below. The individual must be able to analyze processing requirements and choose the best approach utilizing specialized toolsets and drive development and implementation. A combination of technical, communication, leadership, and business interaction skills are required. Should be able to interact with the business user to understand and interpret their needs.

Proactive, assumes responsibility for achieving results; ability to think, work and contribute beyond defined responsibilities; bandwidth to grow and assume additional responsibilities; well-organized with the capacity to multitask is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects.

Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.

Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary.

Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.

Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.

NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology

Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE -
5+

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

Technical Skills:
Five to seven to years of IT development experience is required with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related areas.

Strong background and experience using Ab Initio, Talend and/or Teradata utilities in large data warehouses is required.

Experience writing complex SQL and performance tuning in Ab Initio and/or Teradata is preferable.

Experience in the following is a plus: UNIX shell scripting, Maestro Scheduling, Solid understanding of SDLC.

Soft Skills:
Play the role of a Technical advisor, driving end-to-end solutions.

Apply good understanding of ETL, Database, Data Modeling concepts in order to ensure proper usage of these methodologies.

Work with the project team identifying tasks and dependencies and providing direction for the progress of the project.

Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures.

Identify opportunities to utilize tool specific features and develop and promote new standards for the same.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong administrative and communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Ability to communicate issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner to Management.

Strong decision making abilities.

Experience developing new application systems for production.
