Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
o High school diploma
o 5-7 years minimum payroll experience in a large company (4000 + employees)
o 2-3 years minimum experience with PeopleSoft Payroll for NA version 8.8 or higher
o Strong working knowledge of MS applications, such as excel (pivot tables, vlookup and formulas, spreadsheets); word (mail merge, tables), outlook (email, calendars, tasks)
o Demonstrated analytical and innovative problem solving skills
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Excellent presentation skills coupled with an enthusiastic and positive attitude
o Strong customer service skills;
o Strong attention to detail with ability to work independently
o Self-Learner; ability to learn and retain new systems and processes quickly
o Excellent organization skills
o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines while not compromising accuracy or quality

Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred:
o PeopleSoft time and labor
o PeopleSoft Query Tool
o Multi-state payroll working knowledge
o Bachelor’s Degree

Required Certification/Licensing:
o CPP certification (must be obtained within 1 year of hire for continued employment if not certified at time of hire)

Job Summary:

The Payroll Analyst performs a wide variety of payroll processing activities to ensure the accuracy of the payroll for all employees as outlined below. The Payroll Analyst possess a strong working knowledge of payroll wage and hour laws and department operations to accurately communicate payroll wage and tax information, payroll procedures and payroll system functionality to all levels of employees.

Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):

o Analyzes and performs accurate, complex computations of timecard adjustments
o Accurate data entry of tax forms, voluntary deductions, payroll hours/earnings, and direct deposit data;
o Demonstrates active listening skills to accurately interpret employee and/or management inquiries
o Applies effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve matters to the employee and/or manager’s satisfaction
o Provides superior customer service through all types of interactions, particularly via the payroll hotline and department walk-ins by maintaining a positive, friendly and patient attitude at all times
o Acquires and retains in-depth working knowledge of all payroll system functionality in PeopleSoft and Kronos to independently research and resolve payroll issues
o Schedule appointments for employee inquiries within 24 hours (exception is Friday and Monday of the payroll processing cycle)
o Acquires and retains working knowledge of PeopleSoft table structure to efficiently and accurately retrieve data to produce reports for ad-hoc requests
o Utilizes technology (M/S word, outlook, excel) to perform tasks efficiently and accurately
o Plans, organizes and prioritizes tasks and schedule to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
o Participates in group discussions and meetings for process improvements and expense reduction
o Presents ideas to automate manual processes
o Maintains notes to avoid asking repetitive questions
o Meets all assignments and payroll deadlines
o Participates in year-end processing as assigned
o Develops individual goals that align with department and organization goals
o Performs ad-hoc tasks and projects as requested
o Perform presentation of payroll information at new hire orientation and in-service department rounding as assigned;
o Perform payroll training classes as assigned;
o Maintain payroll information documents on internal Intranet;
