The primary responsibility of the Senior Security Engineer is to provide pre and post sales Security engineering services for customers. The Senior Security Engineer is expected to act as a lead engineer on large projects, providing technical project management and direction as assigned.
The tasks and responsibilities of the Security Engineer include the following:
Lead high-level security project discussions with Customers and employees.
Design network security in new and existing networks.
Provide critical review other Security Engineers network security designs.
Implement security products including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and various other security products.
Lead security audits and assessments.
Generate engineering requirements (including descriptions of requirements and solutions) for proposals.
Manage customer expectations and deliverables.
Act as a 3rd-level escalation engineer for security trouble tickets from the Managed Services unit.
Present educational seminars on network security.
Obtain and maintain vendor engineering certifications required for service delivery.
Maintain a current CISSP certification.
As a primary provider of security consulting to the customer, provide security consulting and engineering services that assure a high degree of customer satisfaction.
Provide timely and accurate information regarding the above to:
oOther Security Engineers team members
oSecurity Practice Lead
oProject Managers (when a PM is required)
7 or more years experience as a Security Engineer.
Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
Excellent written communications skills.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to team with others to develop and implement complex security projects.
Current CISSP certification.
Security audit and assessment experience.
Extensive experience and certification in the Cisco, Symantec, and Check Point security product suites (minimum full certification in at least one of these).
Experience with the Nokia application platform product line (Nokia certification a plus).
Extensive networking, network design and network security experience.
Extensive understanding of routing protocols and networking fundamentals.
Experience with a broad range of security products such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, AV, VPNs, Authentication, Content Filtering, etc... in a variety of network implementations.
Extensive experience with business and functional requirements collection.
Ability to lead a variety of projects with limited supervision.
Solid analytical skills to troubleshoot high-level, complex and technical problems.
Experience with commercial or freeware security products (Firewalls, VPN, Intrusion Detection) - certification a plus.
UNIX familiarity - Solaris, Linux or BSD a plus.
Current Microsoft MCSE certification a plus.
Security audit and assessment certification (e.g. NSA-IAM) a plus.
The job is approximately 25% pre-sales support and design and 75% technical implementation. Less than 50% travel required.
