As an IT professional you have expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. As a Distribution Support Engineer, your role will be to work technical issues reported by DC operations users for warehouse management systems, warehouse sorting systems, yard management systems, and labor management. You will work with IT teams and business partners that understand what it takes to support distribution center operations for the largest home improvement retailer in the world. You will apply advanced problem solving techniques and coordinate with infrastructure matrix teams to quickly and effectively resolve system issues.
This is a technical role. The ideal candidate will possess technical working knowledge of distribution system infrastructure and application knowledge.
The Systems Engineer resolves issues reported by distribution operations personnel through a ticketing system and provides resolution in a timely manner.
Supports technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software
Performs debugging, root cause analysis, and preventative measures for system and application issues and presents to management.
Support engineers work normal business hours and have rotational on-call and weekend duties.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY
Perform installation, maintenance and support of system software, hardware and infrastructure and user support for moderately complex projects. May oversee this effort if acting in team lead capacity.
Perform store & SSC engineering and roll-out implementation.
Perform configuration, debugging and support for infrastructure platform for moderately complex projects.
Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures.
Provide technical direction to System and Associate Engineers, Operations Specialists, and contractors.
Interface with Business Stakeholders on all applicable projects. Update manager on all escalated issues.

Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, operating systems and system software.
BS Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Proficient with UNIX, AIX, DB2, Linux, Windows Server OS, scripting, SQL, MS SQL Server, IIS, EDI, EAI, MQ, and Client-Server technologies
3+ years of experience supporting large multi-platform IT operations
Candidate should possess superior attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Should have good communication skills and ability to resolve issues quickly in a high pressure environment
Working knowledge of PC hardware and software is essential
Ability to properly interpret user reported users to determine appropriate resolution
Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
Experience in Manhattan Warehouse Management Open Systems, preferably version 2004 R4 a plus
