The position is primarily responsible for driving network management vision, strategy and technology roadmaps for HP Networking business unit. Skills include all aspects of network management for campus LANs, server related networking (OS, hypervisor, VSwitch, I/O), data center networks, QoS, & workload use-cases, L4-L7 appliances, mobility, security, cloud and virtual provisioning; communications with customers and marketing activities. Core responsibilities - developing product and solution strategies that ensure that the requirements of the HP Networking portfolio are understood effectively and positioned appropriately with the individual business units and marketing.
- Develop & maintain a good understanding of goals & business drivers of the business units. - The role is global in scope and reports within the office of the CTO/Advanced Technology Group, HP Networking
Drive the network management platform vision and strategy for HP Networking, which includes HPN-specific network management and interface/relationship to other HP network management solutions.
Develops organization-wide network management architectures and methodologies for management of complex products, platforms, systems, software, and technology across multiple engineering disciplines, platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
Identifies and evaluates new network management technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture.
Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with network management technology and development guidelines and standards; integrates suggestions, updates, and innovations into overall architecture.
Leverages recognized network management domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of engineering design innovation and excellence
Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
Minimum 10+ years experience in computer networking related technologies.
Knowledge and Skills
Using, evaluating, and developing appropriate engineering design tools and software packages.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Conducting reviews of network management specifications and design
Evaluating and selecting forms of empirical analysis, modeling and testing methodologies to validate network management product designs and specifications
History of innovation with examples of developing new technologies and practices for network management designs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills; mastery in English and local language.
