Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Create and develop manufacturing processes of value (speed, quality, consistency, etc.) for new products in development. Lead the pilot plant facility and group. Lead exploration of applied process engineering research to contribute to innovative process improvements. Supports the implementation of key corporate strategies and initiatives through good scientific practices, technology and experience.

• Lead the pilot plant group and facility
• Exploratory applied process engineering research, intended to contribute to development innovative, improved manufacturing processes and systems
• Develops new product scale-ups, technologies, and methods to meet enterprise objectives
• Creates prototypes, models, and samples to test and validate concepts and ideas
• Continuously optimizes current products and processes
• Proactively scans and researches new concepts, materials, technical opportunities and partnerships; making recommendations on how to proceed
• Studies and recommends product or specification modifications and process improvements
• Effectively uses project management/milestone planning techniques to drive multiple concurrent opportunities to sound ‘proof-of-principle’ or business gate approval decisions
• Leads and coordinates project activities of internal and external resources
• Proactively collaborates throughout the enterprise and outside GOJO, teaming with groups such as PMG, Supply Chain, external suppliers, converters, partners and consultants
• Manages technical aspects of projects and influences others (team mates & customers)
• Researches and analyzes data to determine feasibilityand potential of proposed solutions
• Expedites implementation for market introduction of robust new products meeting enterprise success criteria and quality objectives
• Conducts preliminary patent search for landscapes and existing patents relating to development opportunities and determine impact
• Obtains patents or provides patent filing support and IP protection; maintains confidentiality
• Is a resource for solving technical problems
• Creates financial models for new concepts
• Supervises technician activities on a project-by-project basis
• Supports compliance with safety and regulatory practices
• Monitors hazardous waste satellite accumulation areas to ensure compliance
• Enforces and models appropriate lab and pilot plant safety practices Builds and supports Regulatory Compliance requirements current Good Manufacturing Practices and current Good Laboratory Practices, other.

Education and Experience Required
• 5+ years professional experience with success in a chemical engineering/technical discipline
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemical engineering is preferred
• Has practical experience to enable direct report supervision, innovation and business results
• Broad range of demonstrable technical skills including experience in all phases of product/technology development from concept to commercialization

• In depth technical knowledge of materials and components, design techniques, plastic part design, processing and development and production methods
• Measuring, testing and analyzing: High level of knowledge and experience with tools, instruments, processes and techniques to ensure products meet specifications
• Knows and understands the patent process from ideation to invention disclosure to filing patent application
• Knows and understands the confidential nature of development efforts
