The Sr. Engineering Manager applies advanced technical and engineering expertise to lead multi-discipline site technology staff. The Sr. Engineering Manager oversees technology planning, administration of work process and staff management/development at their assigned location. This position is responsible for implementing work and performance standards for assigned design staff and directing the work process from concept to final design.
Essential Functions:
Manages multi-discipline engineering teams to meet schedule, cost, and technical objectives.
Manages all phases of employee performance included coaching, training and development, and career planning.
Knowledgeable of established Company practices, policies, procedures, and standards pertinent to the engineering design standards and project execution.
Performs engineering analysis and design on complex or unique problems. Documents work in well written professional technical reports, when required. Provides guidance to engineers, designers and drafters on project/technical issues.
Knowledgeable on Codes & Standards and client requirements pertinent to design or engineered systems and insures technical compliance with project requirements.
Drives Middough Work Process initiatives, training and program implementation.
Applies technical expertise by organizing and presenting internal training programs.
Skilled in estimating department man-hours, writing the scope of work, and recommending staff assignments.
Able to perform drawing review and design calculation checking for any project within technical expertise.
Can perform the responsibilities and duties of a Project Engineer as defined in the Project Management Guidelines, including Departmental requirements.
Skills & Qualifications:
20+ years of experience performing process engineering analysis and design functions preferably in a life sciences environment (agribusiness, pharmaceutical, food & beverage)
Accredited BS degree in an Engineering discipline
PE license
Acknowledged expertise in one or more technical area (structural, mechanical, process, piping, electrical and I&C disciplines)
Skilled in oral and written communication techniques
Experience presenting to and developing client relationships
Working knowledge of Project Management techniques
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

The employee may be assigned to work at a Client’s office, facility or site for an extended period of time. When performing outside Middough’s office, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by Middough and/or Client, as required.
