Sr. Enterprise Architect- Business Intelligence

This position will serve as a technical lead person for Healthways enterprise system architecture, responsible for overall architectural design, technology vision, development principles, standards, and long-term information technology strategy related to Business Intelligence (BI). The individual will be part of a high-profile team of product design and application development professionals charged with translating Healthways enterprise strategy and well-being improvement solutions into automated workflows on the company's technology platforms. This is a highly visible leadership role within the entire Healthways organization, and a senior member of the Business Technology team.

Responsibilities and Objectives

Responsible for overall enterprise BI architecture and long-term strategy

Advises executive management as well as operations, technical staff on optimal approaches to solutions definition and architectural principles

Architects systems of very high complexity with balanced but stringent requirements for performance, scalability, stability and flexibility

Leads and conducts architecture reviews. Conducts technology analysis, design, and evaluation

Proactively sets standards for BI architecture, security, application design, data design, development, technology and deployment. Provides expertise regarding the technology architectural stack, integration of system technologies, service layers.

Provide insightful and credible technology direction which balances the functionality, costs, skills required, and risks of the suggested technologies.

Responsible for overall system performance and stability

Collaborate with other technical, application and data architects and drive technology adoption

Lead and collaborate with development teams

Collaborate with others to make software and hardware recommendations and purchases

Supports network/infrastructure teams as necessary to translate business requirements into network or process designs, monitor network performance, ensure capacity planning is performed, and make proactive assessments and recommendations for network/infrastructure improvements

Supervision - Acts independently to determine architectural requirements, direction, and procedures on new or special assignments.

Provides direction to individual contributors. May supervise the activities of others. May provide input to employment decisions and performance reviews.


Generally requires a minimum of 12+ years of related experience.

Generally requires a bachelor's degree

Experience and demonstrated track record with leading, building, and delivering BI solutions

Experience in directing technical staff, team members, and vendors

UML / ER / Architecture frameworks & design experience

Demonstrated excellence in consultative, presentation, oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including iterative/agile approaches, Service Life Cycle and Project Management Life Cycle.

Strong SQL skills; experience with .Net BI ETL/Reporting Framework and MS SQL Server

Proficiency in majority of the following technologies: SSIS, SSRS, SQL, PL/SQL, NoSQL

Familiarity with Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse
