This high profile role works within Argo Group’s Corporate Finance Group, a strategic and operating finance unit within Argo’s broader Finance group. In this position, you will (i) report directly to the SVP, Group Treasurer & Head of Corporate Finance and (ii) work very closely and interact directly with both the CFO and CEO of Argo Group. You will fulfill a multi-disciplinary set of functions in a dynamic, fast-paced and results-oriented environment. You will be involved in matters pertaining to Investor Relations , Treasury, M&A and Investments as well as special projects. You will collaborate closely with teams across all key disciplines including Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Underwriting and Legal, as well as business leaders and the executive group.
Specified projects related to Investor Relations , including (i) conducting research and analyses related to competitors, (ii) conducting research and analyses related to shareholders, and (iii) assisting with the preparation of investor presentations and related or similar materials. Potentially accompany the CFO and/or CEO on investor road trips.
Assist with the preparation of various presentations, and related research and analyses, to/for the Board of Directors of the company.
Assist with credit analysis and memorandums in connection with business transactions.
Assist with the preparation of Rating Agency presentations and related research and analyses.
Assist with Corporate Development/M&A matters, including (i) financial and valuation analyses, and (ii) preparing presentation materials.
Assist with aspects of the Investments function, including (i) conducting various analyses of the investment portfolio and (ii) researching new asset classes for investment.
Bachelors Degree minimum; Business, Finance or Accounting degree is a positive, but equivalent degree also valued. MBA desirable or working toward MBA.
3 to 5+ years of total finance or related experience, with 2+ years in a Treasury function, at a Rating Agency, at a commercial or investment bank or at an accounting firm and 2+ years Insurance industry experience.
Significant experience with financial and valuation modeling.
Proven ability to be a self-starter, quick learner and multi-tasker.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills, with demonstrated ability to develop successful relationships with external and internal constituents in a collaborative environment.
Proficiency with Excel, Word and Power Point.
Proficiency with IR-related tools and databases, including but not limited to Thomson IR.
Experience with capital modeling a plus ( e.g. , BCAR model).
Ability to travel regularly (~25% to 35%); opportunity to work in New York City or San Antonio and travel between offices periodically for training and other purposes, as well as travel to other Argo locations.
