This Senior IP Network Engineer—a member of Global Network team—is responsible for the design, deployment, and support of Virtustream global service provider IP data centers and network.

Primary responsibilities include engineering, deployment, and support of Virtustream
Data Centers and Cloud Computing products with emphasis on data center switching (Cisco 6500 and Nexus series), routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, RIP), WAN/LAN topologies, MPLS, Cisco VPN , firewall platforms (FWSM and ASA), and supporting hardware. The position will require interaction with internal teams (Compute, On-Boarding, Service Desk) for requirements gathering and deployment coordination.

The position will also work with external vendors for solution evaluation and customization. The individual will provide Provisioning and Operations support for trouble resolution and critical maintenance windows.

He or She will participate in developing network architecture and design standards, network diagrams and technical design documents. This position will require off-hours support. Minimal travel will be required.



B.S.(or equivalent) in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with five or more years of engineering experience in data communications

Strong knowledge of Service Provider design and operation

Expert in TCP/IP and routing protocols (BGP,OSPF, RIP)

Expert in switching platforms and Ethernet technologies (Cisco 6500, Nexus)

Experience with architecture and provisioning of MPLS networks and products

including Traffic Engineering, L3VPN, and L2VPN

Extensive hands-on experience with the configuration of Cisco routers and switches

Expert in current industry WAN technologies and products (SONET, SDH, TDM, Metro Ethernet)

Experience with IPSEC and VPN technologies (DMVPN, RRI)

Experience with firewall technologies (Transparent and Routed) and platforms (Cisco FWSM, ASA)

Expert-level troubleshooting and debugging skills

Experience in vendor product evaluation (hardware, software, service provider)

Ability to operate a Protocol Analyzer, Cable Tester, and Circuit Tester

Experience with command-line interfaces, graphical user interfaces, SNMP agents, statistical monitoring and analysis

Strong written and verbal communications skills required.

Ability to develop and document detailed lab test plans and reports, document
procedures and new configurations, provide training for operations departments
and other engineers, provide written troubleshooting, debugging, and problem
detail to vendors

Ability to design, plan, and coordinate network maintenance and installation windows

Ability to work some weekends and to be on-call

Hardworking, focused, thorough, punctual, and proficient at multitasking

Ability to provide written and verbal presentations on technical topics to corporate peers and management

Self-motivated; Able to work independently or within a team environment, with minimum instruction from management
