Sr. IT Applications Developer - SmartPlant

Position Description

Under broad direction, often works independently and provides leadership for others functions in a senior role in application technical design, development, enhancement and maintenance, including preparation of requirements, specifications, estimates, unit testing, code reviews and technical documentation.


Required education, skills and experience:
Candidate must have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or Engineering.

Candidate must have 5-8+ years in Systems development and/or Applications Support which includes experience in Analysis, Design, Programming, Production Selection, Support and/or maintenance.

Broad knowledge of engineering practices in the Hydrocarbon, Civil Infrastructure, and Power industries.

Hands-on programming skills and experience in developing and supporting engineering related applications.

Broad knowledge of Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise application suite, with focus on developing enhancements for SmartPlant/SmartMarine 3D and SmartPlant Foundation using the appropriate Intergraph APIs.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to address complex tasks, consistently deliver to project scheduled completion.

Strong project planning and management skills, including monitoring progress, taking corrective action and reporting results

Good organizational skills, as well as excellent written, oral and presentational communication abilities.

Ability to work independently and keep management adequately informed

Knowledge of data processing including a high-end (general) technical knowledge of hardware, software, databases and database technology.

Demonstrated ability to work in matrix team environments, including strong stakeholder interface capability.

Extensive software application development experience.

Prior experience in the development, support, and troubleshooting of engineering related business applications.

Prior experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction and Public Sector industries.

Candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate strong project planning, organizational, and technical documentation skills with technical knowledge of hardware, software, databases and database technology.

Project development team and IT project management experience is desired.

Software development experience using Microsoft technologies such as

Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server 2010, .NET Framework 2.0-4.0

Proficiency in C# language, but also working knowledge of VB.NET

Working understanding of Visual Basic 6

ASP.NET Web Forms, MVC, Web Services, and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) technologies

Windows Client technologies, including a familiarity with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)

Experience developing .NET applications interfacing with Component Object Model (COM) objects.

Familiarity with Intergraph SmartPlant APIs.

Development with relational databases and SQL coding in both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle

Previous experience with formal software development methodologies (CMMI, MSF, Agile) is preferred.

Understanding of Project Management methodologies and terminology is a plus.

Team player – shares ideas and knowledge with other team members.
