POSITION PURPOSE -
We are seeking world-class talent looking to build a career with the world's largest home improvement retailer, operating more than 2,200 store locations in the U.S, Canada and Mexico. Specifically, your role in homedepot.com will place you at the center of one of the top 40 retail websites that is experiencing an exciting growth trajectory. You will be exposed to the latest Web technologies including J2EE, Websphere, and numerous industry-leading Web technologies running at large, enterprise scale. You will work with IT teams and business partners to understand strategic initiatives as well as deliver leading-edge online capabilities that also support Home Depot's retail business. You will apply advanced problem-solving techniques and coordinate with other core team members to resolve system issues, maintain complex business logic and identify and implement innovative solutions.

This role is with the Homedepot.com team. This hands-on job is responsible design and development for application architecture, development to ensure high availability and requires a dynamic developer who is excited about learning new technologies and driving innovation through a leadership type role.
This well-rounded individual will work side by side with the development teams to provide expert advice and guidance regarding infrastructure needs for quality and capacity planning. Responsible for ensuring that the design and build of a project meet the defined business requirements, as well as the production of the associated design documentation. Develops code specifications, performs coding duties, or manages third-party development of code. Involved in unit, integration, and user acceptance testing, and assists in resolution of defects as required.
Assists Lead Developers and Technical Architect(s) in completing technical/implementation design documentation
Provides estimates for design, build, test, and implementation phases
Undertakes regular code reviews to ensure alignment with development, implementation, and performance standards
Leads a small team of developers to convert program specifications into source code or monitors third-party development resources
Updates program specification/implementation documentation
Revises code based on test results or monitors third-party development resources
Works with project team to prepare code for production
Supports design, configuration, and integration of third-party software products
Involved in unit, integration, and user acceptance testing; Reviews test scripts and aligns with wider testing strategy
Interacts with Business Analysts and Quality Assurance Analysts with regards to systems and user-acceptance testing and implementation requirements
Responsible for the timely delivery of development projects and may be involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, testing, implementation, and documentation
Conducts reviews of supplied specifications, with others as appropriate
Escalates, provides feedback, and proposes changes to program/implementation specifications and/or third-party software products

The Sr. Developer has proficient knowledge of multiple programming languages along with the ability to take business requirements and develop the total technical design for an entire application to be run in production. The Sr. Developer has the ability to lay out requirements for the project team. Ability to guide and direct work on multiple projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production. Thorough understanding of life cycle development through production implementation and post implementation. The Sr. Developer has the ability to present at the various architecture review boards. Display strategic view of applications and how they fit into the whole retail space.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Define, plan and implement solutions on assigned moderately complex projects.

Take business requirements and develop the total technical design on moderately complex projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.

Conduct appropriate test reviews for assigned projects and present to architecture review boards as necessary.

Promote and follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.

Provide technical direction to associate developers, developers and contractors.

NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology

Responsible for helping others and providing on-the-job training or guidance

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
5+ years of hands-on enterprise level software development experience with Java and J2EE, and a willingness to learn other technologies as needed.
Experience using OOD analysis and design preferred
Exposure to high-availability, high-performance, and mission critical applications
Typically holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or has equivalent work experience
Experience using applicable programming methodologies
Experience using a systems analysis and design methodology
Experience using a variety of software languages
Conceptual architecture knowledge
An understanding of industry trends and tools

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Ability to communicate issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner to Management.

Strong decision making abilities.

Experience developing new application systems for production.
