Sr. Loss Control Specialist

BASIC FUNCTION:
We have an opening in our Phoenix, AZ office for a Sr. Loss Control Specialist. The Sr. Loss Control Specialist provides risk management consultation services to current and prospective policyholders. The incumbent will manage a book of business in an assigned territory: Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manages book of business in an assigned territory.
Monitors policyholder loss activity and develops loss reduction action plans.
Assists policyholders in identifying key objectives to improves safety and loss control at the workplace; provides consulting and training services to support the account reaching loss control objectives.
Serves as resource to underwriters, brokers and insureds in the field of safety, loss control and regulations related to employee safety.
Develops and participates in presentations to insureds, underwriters, other BHHC employees, brokers and LC vendors.
Review underwriting requests for loss control and oversee assignment of work to vendors or employee staff.
Performs special assignments and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Graduate of four year college or university program certificate; and five or more years of insurance work experience, preferably in workers’ compensation insurance.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, and financial reports. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write and critique detailed reports that describe the operations, exposures and controls of a wide array of industries. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATH ABILITY: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. •REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of a moderate range of industrial operations and employee exposures to occupational hazards. The individual should have knowledge of office operations, workflow analysis, and current technologies in telecommunications, data entry and file management.
COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft word processing software; Microsoft spreadsheet software; and be proficient on applicable databases, systems and vendor software programs. •ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: While management skills are necessary those are secondary to this position’s ability to evaluate and correct technical performance deficiencies for contractors and assigned employees.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Certified Safety Professional preferred.
