Using discretion and judgment manages multiple marketing and communications projects with the goal of producing concise, clear, and effective promotional, marketing and informative materials in a timely fashion that will increase sales and market share for MFS. Incumbent is expected to be able to act independently and with senior members of MFS in the execution of job responsibilities.
Develops marketing and communication concepts and strategies for all financial services markets and products, including Non-US. Incumbent is responsible for knowing and understanding the business needs, marketing and sales goals. Initiates meetings with department managers, investment staff members, and compliance personnel to develop objectives, strategies, product positioning. Assumes leadership role from concept, to delivery and execution.
Creates and oversees implementation of complex marketing plans for focus campaigns and products. Works with members from across the sales company in implementation of marketing plans and sales follow-up. Includes training, internal sales force, external wholesalers and others. Responsible for establishing and meeting budget and delivery deadlines.
Approves costs and monitors budgets for marketing campaigns and associated print materials.
Leads senior members of the sales company (MFD) in developing literature, marketing materials, sales ideas, campaign mailings, etc. for all aspects of communication: print, intranet, internet, multimedia and digital. Also work with junior members of the department in creation of sales and marketing pieces.
Maintains relationships with the Communications Team (including Communications Management, Production, Design, EMC, and Product Management personnel.) Secures approval of copy and graphic design concepts. Collaborates with internal design and audio-visual personnel as well as external resources to create overall design look and theme. Schedules and coordinates projects with the appropriate internal and external personnel. Guides teams and helps in setting project priorities; responsible for meeting deadlines; must motivate and negotiate between sometimes conflicting needs of team members and clients. Approves costs and monitors budget.
Responsible for MFD literature projects with Marketing Communications and monitors those projects through completion. Also responsible for approving reprints for inventory control and cost containment.
Oversees sales ideas process, from writing to formatting, compliance approval, delivery, and updating. Includes working with junior members of the department, as well as members of the Mar Com production group in file transfer and print approvals.
Works with the members of MFD Market Development and Product Management to gather information on competitive products, investment techniques, and the characteristics of specific types of securities; and evaluates their effect on development of the new marketing plans, new materials, or revision of existing materials.
Works on special projects as requested by the senior members of the department. Responsibilities include coordination of top producer meeting, advisory boards, regional meetings and all associated activities.

Bachelors' degree or equivalent. Minimum seven to nine years of industry experience. Non-US Product and Fixed Income experience preferred.
Must be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
Must have proven project management skills.

Exhibits creativity and initiative.
Knowledge of financial products, investment techniques and strategies, and FINRA and SEC regulations required.
Position requires FINRA Series 6 registration in accordance with MFS' licensing policy.
Ability to function with a high degree of independence.
Proven ability to work well under pressure. Has the ability to work well with a variety of people at all levels of the company.
Willingness to travel to attend applicable industry meetings, conferences, and sales meetings, etc.
