Sr. Product Manager

Job Overview:

The Product Manager owns product innovation, keeps the product suite competitive to market, customer and compliance needs, and stays current with technology trends. This position is highly collaborative, engaging multiple levels and departments. The Product Manger works with user groups on identification of future opportunities and directly oversees requirements and quality control segments of the software manufacturing process.

The Product Manager has high customer contact and must have credibility with customers ranging from end users to executive management. The position works directly with customers to communicate value to market, ensure implementation success, and build relationships with key customer senior level managers.

Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external contacts.

Work Performed:

Product Manager Senior is able to work independently managing existing products and product related projects of moderate to high complexity. Incumbents at this level often collaborate with the Program Director and project teams dedicated to more complex projects; and are able to lead projects under the product line they are managing with minimal direction of their Manager. Job duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Manages and monitors existing products and programs and recommends pricing, strategies, new products, or enhancements to senior managers based on product research and analyses.
  • Has product ownership, product design, and strategic product plan accountabilities. Will provide business content for General Information documents, marketing data sheets, web content and other product and marketing information.
  • Communicates product development requirements through complete written business requirements definition and conceptual design packets.
  • Collaborates with key business partners, including Project Management, Business Analysts, Sales, Development and other Implementation partners, to ensure that needs are met.
  • Conducts in-depth analyses of customer needs, industry competition, market share, market conditions. Solicits feedback from the field salespeople relative to operational, legal and compliance requirements, opportunities and/or constraints.
  • Collaborates with key business partners, including Project Management, Business Analysts, Sales, Development and other Implementation partners, to ensure that needs are met.
  • Creates product packaging documents that communicate the client's value proposition.
Job Description:
  • Participate in product scope and knowledge transfer sessions with internal and external project team members, providing project implementation support, facilitating requirements gathering and approval processes, and defining and maintaining scope documents.
  • Initiate and develop client cost/benefit analysis.
  • Work closely with customers pre- and post-installation, maintaining customer requests, tracking customizations or other requests for enhancements, and communicating product and service opportunities to Program Director. Also will assist with customer care and customer support.
  • Develops action plans for achieving strategic objectives relative to product development/enhancement, and ensures profitability through the competitiveness of existing products. Makes recommendations to senior level managers relative to product modifications, enhancements or deletion of existing or new products.
  • Co-Leads project teams in accordance with client PMLC and SDLC standards through the creation of new and the assessment and enhancement of existing products, in order to support business objectives and contribute to increased profitability and market share.
  • Conducts surveys, compiling and reporting competitive data and information.
  • Uses the product and project management methodologies.
  • Acts as a subject manager expert and is knowledgeable about the product set that he or she manages and what our competitors offer.
  • Supports the sales organization with RFQ/RFP processes, business solutions presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Demonstrate understanding of client's value chain (Customer, Revenue, People, Process, Product) through actions and accomplishments.
Job Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience of related Product Management.
  • 25% travel required.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with compliance issues (such as State and Federal laws and regulations) and fraud management tools.
  • Detailed knowledge of retail banking functions.
  • Project execution experience.
  • IT-centric Implementation experience.
  • Software requirements gathering experience.
  • Test Plan and Test case development and execution.
  • Troubleshooting / support experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate applications and best practices.
  • Ability to interact with all customer levels - from end users to executive management.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documentation and design specifications.
  • Leadership skills - Ability to direct, motivate and manage team members in a collaborative / team environment without direct report authority.
  • Automation conversions or implementations experience.
