We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to design, develop, and implement distributed software applications for the Electronic Channels Applications Development Systems team to support a number of brokerage projects. These projects involve the order entry and order processing of equities, options, funds and fixed income securities. The candidate is asked to perform tasks such as design, code, and develop Java / J2EE applications, execute test plans, and co-ordinate and implement software migration to a production environment. The candidate must have a logical way of thinking and performing tasks. Additional responsibilities include interaction with business and technical partners and secondary application support of production software. The Electronic Channels Applications group is a growth business primarily supporting Personal Workplace & Investing business.
Participate in strategic initiatives relating to system enhancements and development.
Work with business partners on identifying systems requirements.
Contribute to the corresponding delivery specifications and technical design specifications.
Participate in all phases of projects.
Manage individual tasks and deliverables in order to complete projects on schedule.
Define and analyze problems in terms of systems requirements and modify system design.
Work closely with the other technology departments within Fidelity Investments
Maintain user/external group relationships (Developers, Business Analysts, DBAs)
Education and Experience
Minimum of 6-8 years software development experience required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Skills and Knowledge
A solid understanding of software development, project lifecycles and brokerage business.
Able to act independently under general direction.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at a given time.
Strong experience with RAD or Eclipse, Websphere or Tomcat is required
Strong knowledge of frameworks such as Spring, Struts and IBATIS
Strong knowledge of Ant, Maven open source tools
Knowledge of Oracle databases.
