The Sr. Estimator will “own” the proposal development process from start to finish and will have broad influence leading-up to the initiation of work in the field. This role will be directly accountable for winning profitable projects for Graycor. Within the Power market, specific emphasis will be placed on backend environmental control equipment at coal/fossil and gas fired plants. The successful candidate will drive for results and operational excellence at all levels; foster a work environment that supports safety leadership, teamwork, and continuous improvement in all elements of the business.
The Sr. Estimator will report directly to the Chief Estimator for the Power market and will, depending on project size and scope, direct Estimators and Jr. Estimators.
Develop a proposal from the Request for Proposal to the Proposal Submittal.
Leverage prior experience regarding the performance of back-end environmental estimating involving SCR and FGD systems in order to favorably position the business.
Conduct structural steel, ductwork, boiler, and plate work self-perform estimating.
Create estimates with emphasis on installation of equipment in the power markets.
Evaluate labor productivities and installation schemes.
Develop effective schedules.
Lead the procurement of subcontractors and materials.
Review contractor programs for compliance with contract documents.
Perform constructability reviews, analyze budgets and project costs.
Provide expertise and experience to problem solving, operational and marketing challenges.
Must be familiar with take-offs and pricing work in union, self-perform and lump sum, competitive bid environments.
Emphasis on pipefitting work is a plus.
Bachelor's degree required.
At least 10 years work experience in the industrial construction market involving proposal development or project execution in a union based environment.
At least 5 years of work experience in the power market.
Understand and abide by industry safety and quality standards. Committed to advancing a culture of safety within an organization.
Possesses well-developed proposal presentation skills.
Computer skills, specifically the Microsoft Suite programs.
Experience working with Timberline estimating software is a strong plus.
Experience working with Primavera scheduling software is also a strong plus.
Familiarity with working in heavy industrial outage and/or turnaround environments.
