Goodrich Corporation has an opening its Aerostructures Division in Chula Vista, California, for a Stress Engineer V. Perform stress analysis and stress engineering duties in designing tools, engines and related aircraft structures. Research, design and evaluate products, equipment, systems and processes, applying knowledge of stress engineering principles. Formulate structural analysis of a complex nature, and conduct stress, fracture and fatigue structural analysis of components. Define, direct and document structural test efforts to assess the structural integrity of metallic and non-metallic products. Provide limited direction to others in stress analysis and may act as technical lead on assigned projects. Resolve technical problems of a complex scope.
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or any other engineering field that involves structural engineering or stress analysis of structures, such as Civil Engineering. Also requires five (5) years experience as an engineer, analyst or researcher performing stress analysis and testing of aircraft/ airframe or related structures, including use of standard close-form analysis solutions, static strength and stability analysis of metallic and composite materials, and finite element analysis of structures.
