Under general supervision, responsible for moderately complex accounting activities relating to account reconciliations, analysis and forecasts, the month-end close process and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements as they relate to Fixed Assets.

Position Expectations:
Identifies ways to improve productivity and data quality through the use of technology or other means

Able to develop reports and analyses for management and other internal users in ways that support decision-making by conveying complex facts simply

Establishes, owns and works toward achieving individualized developmental goals and objectives

Contribute to month-end close process to ensure timely, accurate financial data that is in compliance with GAAP and Company Accounting Policies

Accurately reconcile accounts, summarize activity, resolve reconciling differences appropriately, prepare forecast estimates, and understand both the Balance Sheet and P&L impact of account activity, including classifications of financial statement line items.

Prepare account and process documentation

Set up, review, and close projects in Oracle Projects.

Properly code assets for posting to Oracle Assets.

Retire, transfer, adjust assets in Oracle Assets as needed.

Review all invoices associated with Fixed Assets and ensure that they comply with Nordstrom capitalization policies.

Analytical Skills: Interpret financial data, analyze variances, and understand underlying transactions; identify issues, gather relevant information, summarize options and recommend solutions; operate in a detail-oriented manner; develop and use Oracle, Discoverer, Cognos and Essbase skills to find efficient ways to obtain and provide information to management and others.

Organizational Skills: prioritize tasks and manage time – work efficiently with the goal of taking on additional tasks; meet deadlines; maintain referenced files and workpapers so that content can be easily understood; flexible and willing to work evenings/weekends during busy times.

Leadership/Teamwork Skills: provide guidance or training to other team members; suggest and implement improvements to processes and procedures; manage process changes; drive the decision making process; ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and with ongoing change.

Qualifications:
BS/BA in Accounting

Minimum of 2-4 years of experience

Proficient with Microsoft Excel and 10-Key calculator

Effective written and oral communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Detail oriented

Desired Skills and Experience:
Public accounting

CPA

Experience with Oracle General Ledger, Assets, Projects, Accounts Payable

Experience with Essbase Excel Add-in

Experience with Oracle Discoverer Reports and/or other reporting environments

Experience with Chesapeake Total Reconciliation System
