SUNY Empire State College seeks a full-time Academic Review Specialist. The Academic Review Specialist is a key member of the Office of Collegewide Academic Review (OCAR), which is part of the office for Academic Affairs. OCAR’s primary responsibilities are to provide guidance regarding policy and procedures for the review of student’s degree program plan, concurrence of student degree program plans, maintaining articulation agreements, revising college pre-evaluated credit recommendations, and maintaining informational databases and publications for the college community.
The position of Academic Review Specialist manages the academic document annotation process; reviews and concurs student degree plans; supports the center academic review offices by responding to questions with research regarding the academic degree plan reviews and prior learning assessment; provides support within the office for the updating of all communication documents, including the Student Degree Planning Guide and the website; and, provides critical support within the office regarding technology for the degree planning process and prior learning assessment, including the implementation of Degree Works. This position works as part of a team and will be involved in specific academic projects assigned to the office.
• Bachelor's degree
• 2+ years work experience in higher education
Candidates should have excellent communication skills, be familiar with and comfortable using a variety of student information software and/or databases, be able to work independently as well as be a strong team player, and demonstrate system-level thinking and problem solving skills.
Occasional travel to other center offices within the college.
Rank/Salary: $37,000 - $40,000, depending on qualifications.
