Empire State College was founded in 1971 as a comprehensive, public college within the State University of New York. SUNY Empire State College’s School for Graduate Studies is currently seeking applicants for the position of Staff Assistant for Graduate Student Services at our Coordinating Center located in Saratoga Springs, NY.

The selected incumbent will serve as a member of the student and academic services team. Primary responsibility will be in the area of facilitating pursuit of degree program, master’s thesis processing, academic records processing and the review of files in preparation for graduation clearance. This involves regular communication with students, faculty members and staff in various offices across the college.

Additionally, the individual filling this position will function as a member of the student and academic services team and will be cross trained in other areas so as to provide support to the team when necessary. These other areas include but are not limited to registration, appeals, and miscellaneous student issues.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; administrative experience of a minimum of 2 years in higher education; excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive communications; ability to organize, prioritize, problem-solve, collaborate and work independently; and familiarity with MS Office products.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree, experience using Access, Excel, and Datatel.
