Empire State College, Student Information Center, seeks a part-time (67%) Student Information Center Representative (State title: Staff Assistant) at our Saratoga Springs, NY location.

This position is in the Student Information Center (SIC), which is a contact center established to respond to student, staff, and faculty questions by phone. The Student Information Center handles all inquiries to the college. The selected incumbent will be responsible for responding to customer inquiries, taking ownership of the inquiry, researching inquiries using the appropriate tools, and interacting daily with staff in various Empire State College administrative and academic units. The SIC Representative will serve as the voice of Empire State College for new or prospective students, and as a source of support and information to current students. The representative will be held accountable for the quality of his/her interactions with both internal and external customers. The selected incumbent will also be responsible for tracking and analyzing calls to the SIC. This position will require considerable skill in customer service, problem solving, communication, and analysis. SIC Representatives may be required to work extended shifts and weekend hours. Part-time representatives will be expected to work flexible schedules to cover peak periods.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. Customer service experience in an incoming telephone call center; excellent written and oral communication skills; and a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment are among the requirements. The selected candidate must also have the ability to work in a setting that promotes both teamwork and independence. Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday-Friday 8:30a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Experience with Microsoft Office tools and keyboarding skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a higher education setting with Datatel/Colleague (or other higher ed software) is preferred. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid along with the demonstrated ability to provide explicit and detailed direction over the telephone for a variety of functions is also preferred.

Special Information:

This is a call center setting with directed schedules that are subject to change within the Monday-Friday workday of 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m.
