DescriptionMedical Devices & Diagnostics Global Services, L.L.C., Global Supply Chain organization is recruiting for a Staff Engineer, Controls/CIM located in San Angelo, TX. Medical Devices & Diagnostics (MD&D) Global Services, L.L.C., represents more than 60 manufacturing sites and 26,000 employees who plan, source, manufacture and deliver high-quality and cost-effective medical products to our customers around the globe each day. Work of the MD&D Supply Chain supports a multitude of product platforms, new products and delivery systems that are used in a wide range of procedures throughout the healthcare industry, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, minimally invasive surgery, hospital sterilization, clinical laboratory testing, diabetes management, joint replacement surgery and vision care. The Staff Engineer, Controls/Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) will provide advanced engineering and design of machine/equipment control and CIM systems and providing engineering and technical support for complex production and processing equipment.

This individual will be responsible for the implementation and validation of computerized control systems for manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced production environment, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMI), System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), robotic and vision inspection systems, for new equipment, retrofits, or modifications, both for machine and process controls. Preparation of protocols, data collection, data analysis and presentation, completion reports, fact book compilation and document change package preparation. Independently perform process and project activities with general instruction. Research, develop, design and test electrical components, equipment and systems applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering supporting the manufacturing area.

Direct plant and outside contractors and suppliers in the installation and troubleshooting on equipment. The Staff Engineer, Controls/CIM will also be responsible for directing the training of maintenance and production personnel on new and existing equipment. Prepare proposals for immediate and long-term programs for the manufacturing equipment and systems. Prepare reports and presentations to management on recommendations.

Design manufacturing equipment electrical and control systems, including PLC, HMI, SCADA, Historian, robotic and vision inspection systems for machine and process controls. Prepare and control budget. Define scope of projects, estimating cost and time, and prepare justification for capital forecast projects. Evaluate progress, results and recommends changes in procedures and systems, as business and equipment/electrical needs change.

Provide on-call support of production equipment during off shifts and week-ends on rotational basis. The San Angelo Plant is a 24/7 operation; weekends and holidays are included in the work schedule.QualificationsA minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline is required. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (i.e. machine controls, SCADA, CIM, computerized controls) is required.

Knowledge of PLC programming is required. Knowledge of Robotics, Electrical Engineering drafting, instrumentation and data analysis are preferred. Advanced computer software application experience (i.e. relational databases, web programming, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), etc.) is preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Must have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal relation skills. Must have strong analytical problem solving skills. Knowledge of Medical Device Manufacturing Regulations (i.e.

FDA, ISO 13485, etc.) preferred. Project management experience is preferred. Experience or training in Process Excellence/Six Sigma is preferred. Process Excellence/Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) Certification is preferred.

The ability to plan and develop a systematic approach to work activities, establishing clear requirements and objectives in a fast-paced environment is required. The ability to collaborate with all levels of management in a cross-functional team environment is required. This position will require up to 10% travel. The ability to work a rotating on-call schedule to provide support for process issues is required.
