Public Health Seattle & King County is looking for dynamic Staff Physicians interested in making a difference in our community.

Work with a committed group of medical staff providing primary care for multi-ethnic immigrant and low income populations in the Seattle and South Seattle area. All Staff Physician position's working in family health will be filled by this recruitment.

Current Vacancies:

Staff Physician-Navos; Career Service Exempt; 1.0 FTE. The Staff Physician for the Navos Project is responsible for providing primary medical care to clients. The physician works in the Integrated Primary Care Program at the Public Health operated health center within Navos outpatient mental health center. This program is a partnership between Navos and Public Health - Seattle & King County to provide comprehensive behavioral health and primary care services to seriously mentally ill adults. The position will work as part of an interdisciplinary team of staff from Navos and Public Health using an integrated, patient centered model of care. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Daily schedule determined based on clinic needs.

Staff Physician-Float Pool-Family Practice (1 Career Service exempt position and 1 Short Term Temporary vacancy) -The career service exempt position will be a .7 to 1.0 FTE, the incumbent in this position may work 30 - 40 hours per week, hours are flexible. Short Term Temporary position will work 4 to 8 hour schedules not to exceed 940 hours in a year. The Staff Physician will be responsible for providing primary care to Public Health clients in the various Public Health Clinics located throughout King County. This position could be working on the Mobile Medical Van serving the homeless. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, the location and hours will vary depending on department staffing and client needs determined by the float pool scheduling supervisor. Hours of work usually fall between 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m..

Staff Physician-Float Pool-Family Practice (1 Short Term Temporary Vacancy) -This short term temporary position will work up to 18-20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. This position will be working on the mobile medical van serving the homeless. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday, the location of the Mobile Medical Van will vary and hours will vary depending on department staffing and client needs determined by the float pool scheduling supervisor.

The position will be open until filled.
These position (s) are exempt from the career service and are at will employees. The position(s) are also exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

    Examples of Duties:
    • Diagnose and provide medical treatment to clients.
    • Educate and counsel clients on a broad scope of personal and health care issues.
    • Provide technical consultation to nursing staff for assigned work location.
    • Provide medical triage and patient care evaluation.
    • Document all medication evaluation, diagnosis procedures, treatment, outcomes, referrals and consultations.
    • Educate clients on the use of medications.
    • Perform minor surgical procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned within the position's scope.

    Qualifications:
    • A National Provider Identification (NPI) must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment.
    • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration must be obtained within 30 days of employment. Public Health can assist with acquiring DEA registration.
    • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
    • Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine. If not certified, incumbents must become certified within 2 years of hire.
    • Demonstrated experience working in teams and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, social workers, residents and other providers.
    • Applicant should have experience managing chronic diseases and should feel comfortable working with seriously mentally ill patients and patients who are homeless and/or have a history of incarceration and substance abuse.
    • Knowledge of medical practice.
    • Knowledge of outpatient care, including medical diagnosis and treatment.
    • Knowledge of community resources.
    • Knowledge of community health service delivery systems.
    • Knowledge of medical records documentation.
    • Knowledge of quality assurance and improvement techniques.
    • Skill in oral and written communications.
    • Skill in assessment.
    • Skill in analytical thinking.
    • Skill in problem solving.
    • Skill in interpretation of diagnostic laboratory and common procedural test results.
    • Skill in organization and knowledge of accepted time management techniques in a health care setting.
    • Skill in triage.
