This position is responsible for managing the care of the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient experiencing general medical conditions or surgical procedures that require general assessments related to specific conditions, and general therapies and interventions. The Pediatric/Med/Surg RN is also responsible for managing the care of post-op adult patient planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care, developing nursing care plan in coordination with patient, family and interdisciplinary staff as necessary and communicating changes in patient’s clinical condition with Physicians, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • They will provide planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation.
  • This person conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient’s immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by client facility’s policies, procedures or protocols.
  • This person conducts ongoing assessments as determined by the infant, toddler, preschool, school-age or adolescent patient’s condition and/or the client facility’s policies, procedures or protocols and reprioritizes care accordingly.
  • This person will develop plan of care that is individualized for the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
  • This person will develop a nursing care plan in coordination with patient, family and interdisciplinary staff as necessary.
  • This person provides individualized patient/family education customized to the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient and his/her family.
  • This person will communicate changes in patient’s clinical condition with Physicians, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate.
  • Participates in discharge planning process. SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
  • Experience with patient safety best practices preferred. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information Demonstrated proficient communication skills. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :
A. Education/Skills/Experience:
  • Completion of education to obtain Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Pediatric hospital setting required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Med/Surg hospital setting preferred
B. Licenses/Registrations/Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with Texas Board of Nursing – OR – current home state license is required for multi-state license recognition through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • BLS required
