Leads the daily operations sterile processing techs assigned to specific case area(s) related to decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of instruments. Assists supervisor with training and orientation staff. Updates tools used in the assembly of instrument sets. Performs quality monitoring and sterilization validation testing.
Education: On-the job training
Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications: Must have basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation and all aspects of sterilization processes.
Experience: Requires at least two years in a surgical sterile processing position.
Equipment/Machine Skills: Basic Computer skills preferred. Knowledge of the functions of decontamination and sterilization equipment required.
Management Experience: Experience as a team leader or charge person preferred.
Other Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks to support department efficiencies required. Self motivated and directed. Ability to direct and supervise ancillary support staff. Ability to communicate positively and professionally. Ability to perform problem solving resulting in improved processes and performance for the department. Ability to work collaboratively with many levels of people.
