POSITION: Structural Engineer – Steel Utility
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
LOCATION: Dallas, TX 75201 or other location in U.S.
A global manufacturer of towers and poles used in the
electrical utility transmission and distribution
industry has an immediate opening for a Structural
Engineer at any of its manufacturing operations located
throughout the United States. Reporting to the Director
of Engineering, the Structural Engineer will provide
engineering support for the company’s steel and concrete
pole/tower manufacturing operations at this facility by
delivering high quality designs of the products for
company’s customers while utilizing engineering
principals to optimize design and manufacturing
efficiencies. The Structural Engineer’s efforts will
result in the manufacture of profitable products with
high value that meet the customers’ service
In providing design and technical support, the
Structural Engineer will work as part of a group that is
responsible for all engineering support activities at
the site. The responsibilities of the individual
Structural Engineer and collective responsibilities of
the engineering team are to produce project-specific
designs and applications that meet or exceed all
national and local structural, building and safety codes
and standards; prepare timely quotations and bid
responses; optimize plant utilization to achieve on-time
deliveries; and enhance product value by accurately
reflecting customers’ purchase orders and developing job
specific structure lists for production, shipping and
The Structural Engineer is directly involved in the
design of the steel and/or concrete poles and towers,
producing structures that meet intended service
requirements with an economical design that results in a
competitively priced product. The Structural Engineer
will build and maintain a relationship of mutual trust
and understanding with customers through honest dialog
and by ensuring that all actions taken by the Company or
on its behalf are performed with integrity and
credibility. Additionally, the Structural Engineer’s
relationship with customers is intended to promote in
the development of new products and applications that
are the outcome of solutions to specific customer
problems of design, public acceptance and economics.
The Structural Engineer will also provide engineering
support to operations and maintenance personnel to
ensure that Company assets are maintained and protected
through proactive preventative maintenance and capital
improvement plans. The Structural Engineer will develop
and maintain long-term relationships with vendors who
add value to the product by providing support hardware
that meets intended service levels at a competitive

- Developing and generating design drawings for
customer review and approval.
- Maintaining relationships with customers’
engineering and technical staffs.
- Providing engineering support for the production of
formal and informal service and pricing agreements
with key customers.
- Supporting strategic capital improvement and
maintenance plans as necessary to sustain and
improve production capabilities of the facility.
- Reviewing key performance measures and focusing
engineering efforts in the areas of safety,
productivity, and quality and customer commitment.
- Providing engineering support and designs for the
structural improvements and repairs of manufacturing
facilities and equipment.
- Supporting plant activities to ensure compliance
with environmental and regulatory policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering.
- Two to three years of engineering design experience,
preferably steel and/or concrete tower and pole
- Knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing of
welded steel structures and pre-stressed concrete
- Knowledge and understanding of transmission and
distribution line design.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and

Base salary of $75,000 - $80,000, plus performance
bonus, full health care plan and employer-matched
401(K). Relocation allowance offered, as appropriate.
