The group leader is a live-in position that is responsible for leading and managing daily activities as well as the total welfare of high school students in their assigned group. Additionally, he/she have daily responsibilities for the overall effective operation of the SAMA program.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
-Direct day-to-day supervision and leadership of high-school-aged SAMA participants.
-Responsible for enforcement of all emergency procedures during program.
-Provide disciplinary supervision and oversight responsibility for group participants each day and during night residential program.
-Responsible for the opening/closing of individual check-in and check-out of residence halls.
-Must be present for all training dates.
-Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
-Ability to communicate effectively with participants, parents, co-workers, and supervisors.
-Ability to maintain a positive relationship and work well with participants, parents, co-workers, and supervisors.
-Ability to use sound judgment and interaction with students and co-workers.
-Ability to prepare summaries of daily interaction with participants.
-Ability to present team development exercises.
-Understanding of emergency procedures.
-Ablility to follow the leader expectation guide.
-Demonstration of leadership ability.
-Must 2.5 GPA or higher.
-Must be an APSU student enrolled at least 1/2 time.
-Must have earned at least 24 hours of academic credit.
-Must be in good disciplinary standing with the University (no formal discipline record).
-Previous experience working with youth.
-Must not be enrolled in courses during Summer I session.
-A background check may be required of the successful applicant.
-Direct deposit of pay is required.
