Required Qualifications:
Enrolled in classes at the U of M
Strong Communication and organizational skills
Proficient in MS Word
Ability to take direction and be accountable
HIPPA training completed or able to complete within first week of start date

Able to work as a team as well as independently
Available each afternoon - 10+ hours/week

Major responsibility:
Assisting the Cardiothoracic Surgery staff with various clerical duties that may include confidential patient information

Duties and Tasks:
Periodically cover receptionist area and assist in answering busy phones
Pick up and Distributing mail
Pull journal articles requested by faculty from online sources; file, distribute, and record as necessary
Scanning and Filing
Distribution and organization of faxes
Running errands
Database entry of patient encounters
Typing manuscripts
Ability to create PowerPoint presentations
Assist Administrator with miscellaneous responsibilities
Special projects

Program/Unit Description
Cardiothoracic Surgery
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is devised of several sections and specialties. They include Adult Cardiac Surgery, Heart Transplant Program, Lung Transplant Program, VAD Program, General Thoracic Surgery, and Congenital Heart Surgery.
