Job Title: Student Custodian
Reports To: Lead Custodian/Head Custodian/Principal
Terms of Employment:
12 Months/Year
Part Time: 2 Hours/Day (School Year)
(Full Time During Summer Months)

Salary-Dependent on Age Y1-0, 8.43 or TE-C-0, $12.81

Nature and Scope of Job:

To perform duties of operation, care, cleaning, maintenance, and security of assigned facility and site. To provide a clean, comfortable, safe, attractive environment to promote the mission of the Sweetwater County School District: "Teaching Effectively - Learning Successfully".

Job Functions:

Essential Functions:

1. Participates in a daily work schedule of building cleaning and operation.

2. Vacuums all carpets daily in area of responsibility.

3. Cleans, sanitizes, services, and restocks restrooms daily.

4. Washes windows and frames as directed.

5. Cleans all chalkboards and trays daily.

6. Dust mops or damp mops all resilient or tile floors daily.

7. Empties waste and sanitary receptacles daily.

8. Cleans student and teachers desk as directed.

9. Perform such yard keeping chores as keeping the grounds free from rubbish, as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.

10. Report major repairs needed promptly to the Principal.

11. Reports immediately to Principal or Lead/Head Custodian any damage to school property.

12. Authorized to remain on the school premises when attendance is required by the Principal.

13. Assist with the opening and closing of the building each school day. Doors, windows are secured and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons are turned off.

14. Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the Principal.

15. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.

16. Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems.

17. Sounds fire signal to alert fire department and school personnel in event of fire.

18. Report unauthorized persons to proper authority, and/or calls police for assistance, according to emergency action plan.

19. Participates in in-service training programs as appropriate.

20. Perform other related duties as assigned.

2. Provides assistance to building staff members on request.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements ( Education, Experience or Formal Training):

High School student 16 years of age or older

Reading ability adequate to follow directions resulting in making effective work decisions.

Equipment Used :

Wet Vac Wax Applicator

Vacuum Hand Truck

Extractor Hand Tools

Scrubber/Buffer Automatic Scrubber

Dolly 6 foot ladder

Washer (commercial) Dryer (commercial)

Physical Demands:

Lower body strength to stand/walk throughout work shift.

Upper body strength to lift 50 pounds and carry 50 feet.

Environmental Demands:

Moderate exposure to weather extremes of minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit to positive 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

Frequent exposure to common dust.

Frequent exposure to various cleaning supplies or chemicals.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Part-time (Ten, Eleven or Twelve Month Year). Salary and work year to be established by the Administration Assistant-Physical Plant, and Director of Custodial Services and approved by the Superintendent.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on evaluation of Non-Professional personnel.
