Under the supervision of the Media Relations Manager and Marketing Manager, this position supports internal and external marketing, media, and public relations efforts at Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland.
Media Relations Communication Support
: Researches and helps develop materials for website and media distribution including press releases/media alerts; physician bios; fact sheets; and articles for external publications.
: Escorts on-site media; communicates with media; and assists to coordinate all media events to ensure that all press interviews are conducted with approved hospital spokespeople.
Special Event Coordination
: Assist Marketing Communications department in coordination of special events for the hospital, such as media events, President's Updates, etc.
Web and Internal Communications Support
: Update website and Children's social media pages; assist with monthly Inside newsletter; assist with monthly physician newsletter.
Third or fourth year college student or college graduate (BA or BS), preferably with a major in Communications, English or Journalism.
Experience in writing for newsletter or newspaper is desired. Experience in customer service is desired. Experience with Facebook, YouTube and Twitter is desired.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Mac OS X and Adobe Bridge, InDesign, Acrobat, and Photoshop desired. Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving skills and the experience working with multiple priorities.
Candidates selected for interview will be required to provide a porfolio with 3-4 writing samples, preferably including a press release and newsletter or newspaper article.
Academic credit available upon request.
