Student employees must maintain enrollment of six (6) NMC credits during fall and spring semesters, and a minimum of three (3) NMC credit during summer semester to be eligible for student employment.

Position Title: Student Lab Assistant - Chemistry

Department: Science/Math Academic Area

SUMMARY
The Science Lab Assistant is responsible for preparation and cleanup of materials used in lab activities as directed by the Science Lab Manager. Depending on interest, lab assistants are generally hired for one of the following labs: biology, chemistry, environmental science, or physics, based on classes taken and/or experience.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES and LICENSES

Required:
  • Student must be enrolled half time during that semester (minimum NMC academic credits: 6 for fall; 6 for spring; 3 for summer)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Preferred:
  • Chemistry - Successful completion of introductory chemistry is preferred. Completion of one or two semesters of general chemistry is desired. Ability to weigh accurately, and to calculate solution concentrations based on percent, molarity and normality is strongly preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.

WORK HOURS:
This is a part-time, NMC student position. This individual will work between 4 and 6 hours a week.
