Student employees must maintain enrollment of six (6) NMC credits during fall and spring semesters, and a minimum of three (3) NMC credit during summer semester to be eligible for student employment.
Position Title: Student Lab Assistant-Geology
Department: Science/Math Academic Area
The Geology Student Lab Assistant is responsible for assisting the instructor during lab sessions with materials, including Petri dishes, glass tubes, bacterial cultures, and other biology equipment. This person also assists by writing directions and diagrams on the board for students. This individual is also required to help the instructor with note writing.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES and LICENSES
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful completion of at least one course in general biology
Must have legible handwriting for writing on white board
Completion of additional coursework in biology, as well as an introductory chemistry course
Experience as a teacher ’ s assistant
Ability to identify rock and mineral samples is desired
Successful completion of an introductory Earth Science or other geology course is preferred.
WORK HOURS :
This is a part-time, NMC student position. This individual will work 20 hours per week or less.
