The Academic Advisor will provide academic advisement, career guidance, and life skills training primarily to first and second year degree seeking students. Provide orientation services to incoming transfers and first-year students.. She/he will also work with university and departmental databases, attend university-wide meetings related to enrollment and retention and develop reports on student success and retention. She/he will coordinate with campus community in monitoring and assessing the academic progress of first and second year students.
Bachelor's degree and 1 year related experience in a student services field.
Knowledge of assigned program area, such as advisement, registration, admissions financial aid, and housing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents, coworkers and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to work fluently with Microsoft Office applications, university mainframe, e-mail, and standard office equipment
