Substance Abuse Counselor NE-
Provides evaluation and treatment, and facilitates case coordination and referral services for patients with substance dependence. Facilitates educational and spiritual groups and provides counseling to patients and families.
Position Minimum Requirements
B.A. or B.S. in a mental health related or clergy field required. One year of experience with specialization in addictions required. Two years of master’s education in counseling or social work with group counseling experience in practicum can substitute for the required experience.
OR Certification Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) from the Florida Certification Board or equivalent in another State, such as Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in Texas, Certified Reciprocal Alcohol Drug Counselor (CRADC) in Missouri, Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York, etc. OR Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC) from National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) OR International Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (ICADC) from the International Certification Reciprocity Consortium (ICRC) and three years of inpatient or outpatient substance abuse experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience in group modalities and counseling required.
Recovering professionals must have a minimum of three years of continuous sobriety immediately preceding and concurrent with hire date.
Must successfully pass a FBI Level 2 screening for this position.
