Substitutes are on-call employees serving on a day-to-day basis.

The intent of a substitute is to fill in for an employee who is on a leave of absence.

BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assists certificated teacher(s) in the instruction of students placed in regular programs; monitor and report student progress in areas of behavior and performance; perform clerical and instructional support duties.

EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent and must meet NCLB requirements (48 college units from an accredited college or university; or successful completion of the District Instructional Paraeducator Proficiency Exam).

*Instructional Paraeducator Proficiency Exams are held every Wednesday morning, at the Twin Rivers Unified School District. Exams are scheduled from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on a walk-in basis.

  • Upon hire, selected candidates will be asked to provide proof of a negative TB reading and background check by the Department of Justice and FBI. Selected candidates will also be scheduled for a Spanish fluency test.

    **In order to assist assigned contract teacher in the classroom, applicant must be fluent in Spanish. **
