Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements:
Qualified applicants must possess a valid California teaching credential or be eligible for a Substitute Teaching Permit.
Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov. Applicants who have not worked in a certificated position for a California public school district within the last 39 months must verify that they have satisfied the basic skills requirement and must include a copy of their documentation with their application.
A Bachelor’s degree and satisfying the basic skills requirement are required for the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
Long-term assignments require a valid California teaching credential.

Applications will be carefully reviewed. Those applicants with the most appropriate education, experience, and training will be invited to the next available Alternative Education Substitute Orientation. All applicants will be notified of their application status via e-mail.
