Shell Exploration & Production Company (SEPCo) is responsible for safely finding, developing and producing oil and natural gas in North America. Shell has been operating in the Gulf of Mexico for five decades and these operations provide more than 73 percent of our U.S. oil and gas production.
SEPCo is the largest of Shell's E&P operating units, accounting for 17 percent of Shell's worldwide oil and gas production. Based in Houston, Texas, our key operating locations are in the Gulf of Mexico, South Texas, Wyoming, Alabama, Alaska and Canada.
Responsibilities :
The intern will be assigned a mentor in each work area to assist with personal goal setting for the internship. The internship will include awareness training and an orientation to Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) regulations
During the course of the internship, the intern will shadow/observe technicians and participate in the following:
Safety and Team Meetings
Unit specific training to include:
Process overview of each unit
Unit layouts
Health, safety, and environmental observations
General board duties
Observation of various processes such as:
Heat exchangers
Pumps
Compressors
Lubrication systems
Various towers
Make computer entries
Follow and observe a variety of plant operators as they complete daily chores, unit operations, and general life in the control room
Requirements :
To be eligible for the internship, you must have completed the first half of a Certificate or Associate’s of Applied Science degree in Oil and Gas Production Technology, Natural Gas (Electrical/Electronics Technology,Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Automated Manufacturing Technology, Eletromechanical Manufacturing Technology) Process Technology, or Instrumentation Technology OR graduated within six months of the start of the internship from either Certificate or Associate's degree program listed above. Additionally, you must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. In addition to the academic requirements listed above, applicants must also meet the following requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis
Willingness to take and achieve satisfactory results on Shell’s pre-employment testing battery
Willingness to support Shell’s safety policies and safe working practices
Willingness to support Shell’s team work environment
Willingness to support Shell’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment
Must be at least 18 years old prior to starting the internship
Willingness to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating, walk up and down stairs and work in confined spaces and outdoors with or without accommodation
Must be able to read, speak, and write English fluently
Must be willing to work in the Wellsboro, PA area at Shell's Appalachia site.
Must be willing to work a three-month internship
