Responsibilities
This position is intended as a temporary Summer Internship. The position will be full time during the summer, and may be extended on a part time basis, based on business need and mutual interest/availability. It is a paid position, but offers no benefits.
Key Responsibilities of the Position
Work with engineers on work cell layouts
Design/build/install equipment considering cost, ergonomic and safety concerns
Set up production packets
Develop project flow diagrams on manufacturing methods
Conduct time studies to improve line balance and flow
Maintain open communication with all manufacturing people
Perform other job-related duties as assigned to meet the objectives of Metal Injection Molding
Know and understand the impact on the environment
Recognize hazards, human or product, and take required action to eliminate them
Use equipment properly and know the safety features
Continually keep surrounding work area clean to prevent possible safety hazards
Report accidents and injuries to Safety Coordinator
Know and practice safe lifting, bending, and pulling procedures
Know the location of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and other appropriate safety devices
Know the location and proper use of the eye wash stations and emergency shower
Know the procedures for fire evacuation, severe weather, and power failures
Be familiar with the lockout/tagout procedures
Qualifications - Education & Experience
Prefer that student has completed Junior level in a Bachelors degree engineering program
Strong mechanical aptitude/any experience in manufacturing will be helpful
Qualifications - Skills & Competencies
Satisfactory work and attendance record.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to apply practical knowledge to hands on work
Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects
